October 12th Class

Another great class last Wednesday.  My classmates are incredibly creative and I’m always inspired by what they do.  If there’s one that stood out as far as wanting to try a variation of the activities with my ELLs, it was Amber’s lesson on monuments for people or events that have had a dramatic impact on our lives.  To me it was very relevant for children to study the iconic monuments and images of America.  They also had to work in pairs, which is a really good for kids to know how to do.  The end result of the mural was amazing, and it really allowed the kids opportunities for problem-solving.  What I took away from her presentation was the fact that she gives mini-lessons on drawing and painting.  I see now that I need to develop my ability to give mini-lessons in the arts so that I am truly teaching and assessing the arts along with the core content.
