Nov. 9th Class

Tonight was class presentations of lessons that were inspired in some way on an arts experience.  The creativity of my classmates always amazes me!  I wish we all could work at the same school and just create a happy world of teaching where everyone, students and teachers, were filled with joy and the love of learning.

One idea presented by Martha was particularly intriguing.  She went to an exhibit at St. John’s College and met a children’s book artist.  She applied what she learned by having her kids tke the words of a story and illustrate it.  Only after that was done, would they look at the actual published work. I really like the whole idea of that.  Helping kids understand the creative process of interpreting different works of art.  Books can be illustrated in different ways, different stage and film roles can be interpreted differently, and the same story can be envisioned differently through more than one film.

I’d like to try this idea with my own kids.
