This school year (2014-2015), I have the luxury of having my own room and working at one school. This enabled me to bring all of my ELL and arts integration materials into a dedicated space and really go to town weaving arts integration into the English Language Development Curriculum. I’ve also been able to use more ELL strategies on one of the walls, specifically by creating a unique word wall, based on critical vocabulary of the Common Core. In addition, I am weaving Artful Thinking routines into lessons, as well as djembes and puppetry. On October 7th, I had a Poems, Puppets, and Pizza! event at my school, and over 60 ESOL children and family members showed up. It was a wonderful way for families to have fun and for me to give parents important information.
